Behold… The Power Of Greed

Posted by Chad on October 20, 2005

In response to the NBA’s new dress code, Denver Nugget center Marcus Camby had this to say:

I don’t see it happening unless every NBA player is given a stipend to buy clothes.

Now… Camby’s gonna be making a cool 8.5 million this year – approximately 250 times more than I’m gonna pull in for the ’05 season.

$8,500,000. Wants stipend to buy clothes.

After taxes, Camby would bring home about $6,205,000. He would have to spend $17,000 a day for 365 days on anything and everything BUT clothes to go through that kind pay check.

17 G’s a day for a year. You could get 365 Hyundai Sonatas out of that.

And he wants a stipend. To buy clothes. Not just for him, but for every NBA player. And something tells me that these guys wouldn’t settle for a suit from your local Big & Tall. Hypothetically speaking, lets say the 12 players on the 32 NBA teams each want 5 suits at about $1000 each (hey… they’re important people and important people get expensive things). That stipend would cost the NBA about $1.92 million.

Maybe I’m getting carried away here, but let’s take that amount out of Camby’s paycheck, just for poops and chuckles. Aw, damn! Poor guy’s only left with $4,285,000 to play with. A mere $11,740 a day.

Hey Camby…. Go eff yourself.
